Hi There,
I just got a Apanda A60, which is the same as Wellcom A88 I think. Apanda does not come with Android Market or Google Maps.
I want to install Wellcom A88 software – should be OK as same hardware. I have ROOT access on teh phone. Where can I download Wellcom A88 firmware?
Thanks,
Tom (in Australia!)
If anyone can send me a88 rom I’d love it. Thanks Tom.
Let me move topic to A88 forum, I believe that there will be somebody there can help you! 🙂
Ok great. Thanks for all your help. As far as I know it should be fine to install wellcom a88 on apanda a60?
Has any one tried other Android O/S on wellcom a88, like 2.1 or HTC interface?
How much for A60 ?
let us know please
Hi there,
I bought from Hongkong – for $340USD – they do not sell them in Australia. I tried to get an A88 on ebay but they ran out of stock. Is a pretty nice phone, although I’ve never had a touchscreen before.
I bought it from: http://www.winsunx.com/winsunx0/index.php?mod=product&product_id=406
Much cheaper than most android phones in Aus, but not sure how it compares to Thailand
Hi Tom,
I suggest you to use A688 rom instead.
Because A688 also has Google Market and I already successfully flash this system rom into my A88 (which flash A60 rom first).
More detail from below link.
http://snowwolf725.blogspot.com/2010/04/a688-rom.html
———————————————————————————
In short explanation,
1. Download this rom. (A688 system.img (rooted))
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=58N1F0Y0
2. Enter boot loader mode.
– Phone off -> [Hang up] + [Volume Down] + [Power]
– flash using fastboot.exe by command ‘fastboot flash system system.img’.
Thanks innozent!
I’ll give that a try and see how I go. Has it worked well for you?
I’ll post my progress
Hey bro it’s work right?
Hmmm, not so great just now. I applied the system.img however now just sits in the boot screen.
The computer recognises it though. So not sure what the problem is.
Hmmm having some trouble restoring to it’s original state! Fingers crossed.
I had to restore it to the Apanda firmware. Luckily that has worked fine (had to set it to emergency download mode for that to work)
Inozent: I tried following those instructions but it didn’t seem to work. just got stuck in boot screen after I used fastboot flash command. any idea what i could have done wrong?
Ahhh seem strange.
What I have done is:
1. Flash firmware of A60 to my A88 phone via RUT. (Error occur in last step of RUT but phone can boot up)
2. Then flash system.img (Root) of A688 to my A88 -> System can boot in A688.
3. Then flash boot_App2SD_VFAT.img to my A88 -> App2SD worked.
So it seem that your original A60 firmware is not compatible with A688 system rom.
What is the build number of your A60? ( Setttings -> About Phone -> Build Number).
Mine is 7003_0_380.
Hmm very strange. I wonder if I did the flash wrong?
My phone detailsa re as follows:
Build no: 7003_1_280
Kernel: apps2.6.29
BaseBand: PR3_850
Firmware: 1.60
I have applied Hiπ1.6.1(7003_1_280)from
from http://service.apanda.com.cn/support/download.html
So maybe that is the problem. I will try and firware upgrade with original and then run again.
What does: Then flash boot_App2SD_VFAT.img to my A88 -> App2SD do?
boot_App2SD_VFAT.img
iis modified version of boot partition (boot.img) created by Snowwolf725.
http://snowwolf725.blogspot.com/2010/04/a688-app2sd.html
purpose to move all installed application to SDCard,
also allow more space to install new application.
Hmm, I got my system t flash Snowwolf a60 rom OK but now when I run the fastboot.exe command it just hands during the “sending system” and never finishes sending.
Before it sent pretty quickly faily quickly and gave a confirmation. How long did it take yours to send/write?
If I unplug during the write it says “status read failed (to many links)”
Think I am having no luck today
For flashing my system partition using fastboot.exe, it take around 1 minute to complete since system partition is pretty big comparing to boot partition.
May be something wrong with your android bootloader driver, please try reinstall your boot loader driver. (using driver from C:\Program Files\RUT\Driver\Android).
By plugin your phone in boot loader mode, go to device manager and find for android phone and update your driver.
For some strange reason with the a60 now it never comes out of flight mode! Very strange. I’ve tried resetting to 380 and 280 firmware and same thing. I hope it’s just a software not hardware problem. Does anyone know where I can get a cache.img?
Update!!
I successfully got a688 system.img installed and have the new a688 software running. However unfortunately it is always still stuck in flight mode 🙁
I realised I maybe made a mistake as I also tried to flash “ftm” with ftm.img from snow wolf a688. Perhaps this is the cause of my problems? Any one have any ideas?
Here are my system specs:
Model: F11
Firmware: 1.6
BaseBand version: pr3_850
Kernel Version: apps_2.6.29
It may be because of Radio image problem. Have you already tried to disable 3G already? May be it helps.
However, I believe that you have to find the right baseband (radio) image for your device.
Yes I think it is due to a wrong baseband. I can’t seem to find the right baseband for it. any idea where to find. I don’t understand why using RUT to flash does not fix it though. 🙁
I’ll have to keep trying!
Does anyone know if “dbmsk” on the phone is the baseband/radio image?
I am not sure about that but I upload A88 for you to try.

Hiya all just thought I’d give you a quick update.
My initial crossgrade to the Vibo OS failed as my firmware was not compatible and in the process my IMIE was lost and it was permanantly stuck in flight mode!
Fortuantely with some fantastic help from SnowWolf in Taiwan I was able to successfully restore my phone using PSAS and QPST programs.
If youwant some great instructions on how to unbrick your phone check out:
http://snowwolf725.blogspot.com/2010/05/psas-qpst.html
I’m sure the same would work Wellcom as well.
Now just waiting for 2.1 or 2.2!
Cheers,
Tom
Well hello guys.
I’m Frankie from the US and I’m having a similar problem.
I managed to get my hands on one of these phones …in my case the WellcoM A88 and I love it. Unfortunately I saw that Apanda came out with its updated software 2.1 and couldn’t resist.
After the install and a short scare trying to change the language I got it running smoothly and with most of my apps. The only problem I ran into is that it doesn’t have google market. Foolish me I didn’t think to check that before I started.
Using your instructions above I managed to install the system.img but ran into the same booting problem in that it would stick at the boot screen.
I restored it back to 2.1 but still want to go back to 1.6 with market until Apanda releases the official update.
Unfortunately I am not savvy on how to use the rut program and have only been using fastboot.
Is there anyway to use fastboot to install the hipi1_6_2.nb0 file with fastboot? I’m still not even sure what an .nb0 file is.
Appreciatively,
Frankie
Here is 2.1 software for the Wellcomm A88. It has been officially released by Wellcomm.
