In terms of how users feel about that there is a pretty sizeable spectrum of reactions. Extremely heavy users, who hammer their phone batteries with heavy use, and therefore really need the extra capacity are likely to make their peace with the loss of a svelte waistline. For them function simply outweighs form.70-638 (http://www.pass4sures.us/70-638-test.html)

Because of the size increase it needs a custom rear-battery cover in order to house the battery in the phone, in this case it basically doubles the thickness of the phone at its thickest point.70-583 (http://www.pass4sures.us/70-583-test.html)

Not only is the chart out of date, but the more recent data it omits would show an order of magnitude growth in battery energy density. I also suspect that even the data shown by the IEEE authors, which it portrays as flat over the last 10 years, is simply wrong, as Li Ion first become wildly available in that period, replacing Ni Cad.70-502 (http://www.pass4sures.us/70-502-test.html)

Sorry for my rant. I did find a great Firefox plugin, “YesScript”, that makes it easy to turn on and off javascript, so makes your computer run snappy as well as conserve battery life.70-444 (http://www.pass4sures.us/70-444-test.html)

In the old days the speed of software was measured– now we just measure processor speed and rarely worry about performance. (We boast about how many object-oriented libraries we can reuse.) My 8MHz Sun workstation had a faster GUI than the machines I use now. Why does an 8GHz (2GHx quad-core) Windows Vista computer take 5s to display a 5 line menu when the 8MHz Sun did it in .70-401 (http://www.pass4sures.us/70-401-test.html)

but now it seems to be 100s of MB. Around Y2K, when the chart was made, HTML pages just had HTML and web servers delivered data stored in files, maybe 10KB or so. But now we download 1MB of cruft (e.g. this page) and each web access uses relational database accesses and highly layered interpreted software to repeatedly reconstruct the same HTML.70-290 (http://www.pass4sures.us/70-290-test.html)

Nice plot, but the missing dataset there is the evolution of the energy efficiency for each of those activities: storage, processing, communications, etc. 70-236 (http://www.pass4sures.us/70-236-test.html)
