Does anyone have r1069 link for download? I went to Software Park last week and they gave me r749 and I upped it myself to r969. I want to up it to r1069 and there is no reason to go to Software Park again. You only have to go there once to get bootloader updated. If anyone has the ROM to download I would appreciate very much.
Where can we get a download of r1069?
@cm2000 – If you don’t download large files you are better off getting a metered data plan such as the AIS, TOT3G or IMGX. I think the 250mb AIS gives is enough if you just do email, chat and a few websites. The TOT3G 1gb plan for 199 baht a month is more than enough. The IM3GX plan for 299 baht gives you a whopping 2gb plus 100 calling minutes. You might easily blow past 100 minutes as the phone is connected almost all the time, even though it is transmitting very little data.
@cm2000 – Android is a SmartPhone and needs a constant data connection. You cannot complain about it using data. Get an AIS SmartPhone 400 plan (400 baht for 100 minutes calling and 250mb data per month) or get I-Mobile 3GX SmartPhone plan (299 baht a month and 2gb data per month).
People have to understand they loaded a beta ROM. This is not a final release. People have to expect some people may have problems. That is why it is called “pre-final.” I am using 2.1 and my phone is 100%. I have no problems and my phone is working better than it did on 1.6. My phone is also rooted with Universal Androot.
Okay thanks. No overclocking for us.
If you do this you need to remember that the bootloader will still identify the phone as “Cosmos” and not “Touchstone”. If you go to I-Mobile they change the bootloader to show “Touchstone”. If the bootloader shows “Cosmos” you will have to do this modification of the update every time there is a new update or it will fail. I think it is better to go to I-Mobile and get the proper bootloader installed. This is good for temporary but not for long term.
I went and got my phone flashed to 2.1 today. I then updated to r969 that Dojo-mAn provided. When I get a new email and the screen is off, Gmail only blinks the red led and vibrates, it doesn’t play a tone until I wake up the screen. Is there a way to make a sound play when the screen is off? If I am not looking at the phone I need a tone to tell me I got a new email.
@keyboarder – Did you install Accuweather widget? I think it can cause standby problem. Also apps that monitor data usage or system activity can cause this problem also. Uninstall apps that you think might be problem and see if problem goes away.
Here is 2.1 software for the Wellcomm A88. It has been officially released by Wellcomm.

Also get Appinstaller from the Android Market. It can backup all your downloaded apks to the SD card so next time you just use Appinstaller to reinstall them from the SD card archive. Works very good and free.
ขอบคุณครับ. 🙂
I see why you cannot flash 1.6 to 2.1. In the 1.6 the bootloader identifies the phone as “cosmos” and the upgrade checks for this name. In 2.1 the device name is changed to “touchstone” and the bootloader must be upgraded to show this new name. Also the phone will show itself to be an “i-mobile 858” rather than a “touchstone i858” in status screen after the upgrade. And manufacturer will not show unknown any more, will show “yuhuatel.”
I can read a little Thai but every day a little more. I am from USA but Thailand is my home now. I use Google Translate to read most posts. 🙂
