It is sad to disappoint you people, but I it is 90% for sure that this is hardware issue rather than minor software problem… Let me explain:
– I bought 2 Notes yesterday
– Both are for Germany
– Both have the same firmware (KKA, 2.3.6)
One is showing off early clipping on blacks in either program on the lowest backlight setting (gallery, youtube, opera, etc) and more over – it has strong greenish glow when you look at the screen filled with white at certain angles.
The other – is 99% free of such clipping and greenish glow with the same content (same pictures, movies, photos, etc). It is setup completely identical to the first phone.
It reminds me of the same issue that occurred with Galaxy TAB 7″ screens – that were from different suppliers and had minor changes in matrix-production technologies. They also looked differently on two devices laying next to each other.
